Coopers Rock State Park is the perfect destination for birding, camping, hiking or just plain relaxing and enjoying the unsurpassed natural beauty.
Cast a line at Messinger Lake and see what you can catch or hike and bike on nearly 50 miles of trails through the park. The Henry Clay Iron Furnace Trail, takes you on a trip back in time to find a huge stone structure used for producing iron in the 1800s, located in a grassy glade in an otherwise undisturbed forest. More amazing views and discoveries are found along various trails in the forest.
Hunters are welcome here! Properly licensed individuals are welcome to hunt in-season (in specified areas of Coopers Rock State Forest). No hunting zones surround all forest recreational facilities.
This campsite is equipped with a pre-set sturdy canvas tent on its own wooden deck platform. The tent is furnished with a queen-size memory foam mattress and side tables. A picnic table, fire pit with a grill, a solar shower, and portable camp loo are also provided, and campers are able to use the park's restroom facilities as well. There is an additional pop-up tent provided for extra guests, but you will have to bring your own air mattresses/sleeping pads for this tent.
The Space:
3/4 mile of a hike into Rhododendron Trail, this furnished campsite boasts of beautiful views of the hardwood forests of Appalachia. Along and near several hiking and mountain biking trails, this backcountry spot is the perfect getaway for nature and adventure lovers alike. This is can be part of a double site for larger groups, too!
Guest Access:
Please note that the campsite is hike-in only and about 15 minutes from the parking area.
Other Things to Note:
- Pack your own food, water, firewood, bedding, bug spray and flashlights
- There is no electricity, AC, or heater at your Tentrr site, pack accordingly
- Anything you pack in, you must pack out. This is "leave no trace" camping and all sites will be inspected for cleanliness and damages before the next camper
- All trash MUST be deposited in the designated trash receptacle that is labeled on the map.Please notes : If you do not follow this rule, you will be charged a cleaning fee of at least $50
- Pets are allowed. Please keep all pets on leashes(we recommend 6 ft), and DO NOT let your pets near or swim in any bodies of water.
- Please remember to respect and keep your distance from our wildlife in the park. Feeding any wildlife is prohibited. Be aware and watch all surrounding areas when going off trail.
