Nestled at the end of the Etel River, Nostang possessed natural defenses that attracted and settled prehistoric, then Gallic, and Gallo-Roman populations.
Covering an area of 1,571 hectares, the commune boasts 11 km of shoreline on the Ria d'Etel, and is run by three pretty little rivers: the Moulin du Palais River, the Moulin de Saint Georges River, and the Pont du Roch River.
