Camp Cozy is a charming and classic Northwoods cabin nestled among beautiful pine trees on lovely Reed Lake, just 15 minutes east of Hayward. This 2 bedroom cabin can sleep 6-8 people and it has been tastefully updated and maintained. Enjoy the peace and quiet of Reed Lake or make it your base camp to adventures in the Northwoods. Whether you're looking to cross country ski, mountain bike, fish, snowmobile, canoe, shop, or just relax, Camp Cozy offers a perfect retreat.
This spacious cabin is located on a quiet nature lake and it is very private - in the summer the cabins on either side can’t be seen and they are hardly visible in the winter. It has a fully stocked kitchen, 2 fireplaces, and good wifi and internet TV so you can watch the game or work remotely during your stay. The family room, dining room, and kitchen are all large spaces where groups can gather. There is a lovely little reading nook in the lakeside family room, a favorite spot for enjoying morning coffee. The primary bedroom is very roomy and has a queen bed plus a twin bed with a trundle bed, so it is a good space for families with children or friends who are willing to bunk in together (Sleeps 4). New for 2023- the 3-season porch connecting to the primary bedroom has been converted to a sleeping porch, the perfect place to start or end your day. The second bedroom is cozy and has a queen bed (Sleeps 2). There is also a nice and comfortable pull-out couch in the living room (Sleeps 2).
We will allow pets (dogs) at Camp Cozy on a case-by-case basis. If you would like to have your dog join you during your stay, please see our pet rules before requesting a booking and provide key details about the dog and yourselves as pet owners to help with the approval process. Please note we will charge a $75 pet fee and will allow a single dog to stay if key criteria are met.
In the summer, there is very little boat traffic on this lake, which makes it a serene setting to kick back and unwind. The lake can get quite weedy in the summer months, so this should be considered if you are looking for a pristine swimming experience. We aim to keep the area around the dock free of weeds and there is a sand bottom so swimming is definitely possible, it’s just that weeds start out past the dock. It is also possible to take a paddle board to part of the lake to jump in where it will be free of weeds.
There is a large wrap around deck with a Weber gas grill (available for use in warmer months) and dining table to enjoy a meal over looking the water. There’s also a firepit and a lovely deck perched right next to the dock where you can sit and watch the world go by.
There are many recreational options right at the property in both summer and winter - swimming, fishing, paddling, enjoying a bon fire, reading a book in the hammock. You will be welcome to use our lake toys during your stay, including paddle boards and a kayak. In the winter once the lake is frozen, a kind neighbor sets a classic cross country skiing track on the lake. It’s wonderful to be able to step outside the door for a ski. Speaking of skiing, there is also space in the garage where guests can tune their skis and do bike maintenance.
While the cabin and surroundings are very quiet and peaceful, it is also conveniently located to many restaurants, golfing, skiing, snowmobiling, and hiking. This area is known for its incredible network of snowmobile, mountain biking, and cross country ski trails, including the American Birkebeiner trail - 40 minutes to the start, 15 minutes to the finish. There are also several golf courses nearby.
It is a quick trip to Hayward for shopping and essentials. Hayward is a wonderful little town with great shopping and food options and there are also many antique stores in the area. If you love a good brunch, the Robin's Nest Cafe is a hop and skip down the road from Camp Cozy and so is Ray Jay’s offering take out pizza and Friday Fish Fry. Please note, it’s a small town and nearby restaurants may close or have adjusted hours in the winter, spring, and fall.
