It boasts panoramic views of Lazy Mountain, Matanuska Peak, Pioneer Peak, and much of the Chugach Mountain Range. It sits on a 10+ acre family owned property and has a private drive and access. The property has ski and walking trails that connect to several miles of groomed trail loops for skiing and walking for winter or summer use. It has a large deck, yard, hot tub, 2 separate outdoor firepits (including a gas fire put on patio) and more. Offers excellent privacy. It is just minutes from historic downtown Palmer, an agricultural community with a small-town flare. Palmer is located in the heart of the Matanuska valley and is truly the center of any Alaska destination as it is smack in the middle of nearly everything, a short 45 minutes north of Anchorage. It is equally between Denali, Fairbanks etc and Alaskas Marine Highway, Seward, and the Kenai Peninsula. Palmer itself is considered one of the best places to visit and explore in Alaska. It boasts a Swizz Alps like feel and is home to most the states farms, the state fair, fishing, hiking, mining, and every outdoor activity you can think of for families and adventurers alike.
The house has a modern rustic style, with timber frame accents and flare, a vaulted ceiling, warm colors, and many large windows that welcome in scenic views and Alaska sunlight. Open floor plan with two family gathering areas. It is a great crashing pad for all your Alaska adventures as well as all the modern amenities you need for making memories together. There is ample parking for several vehicles. There is a great sitting deck out front, a play area for children to run and be children, a grill, a fire pit for evening visits, a more private back patio, and a short walking trail behind the house that goes to a pond. The property has a private feel as it is part of the 10-acre property and has many trees as well, nestled in the woods on the hillside. Wildlife regularly visit the property making sightings of moose and other animals common. Being part of an agricultural community there are sometimes mother and baby cow pairs grazing in the lower half of the property. If cows are grazing, guests will be informed as an electric fence will be active,( currently not active). They are fun to view and fairly tame and mellow, but please refrain from touching, chasing or trying to ride,as they have potential to be dangerous just as any large animal does.
Palmer always has fun happenings- coffee shops, local artists, ice cream, breweries, small-town concerts, and Friday flings. It is 30 minutes from Matanuska Glacier and 20 minutes from must see Hatcher's Pass Historic Mining famous for hiking, rock climbing, and berry picking. There are several local easy, moderate, and difficult level hikes in the area (within 2-15 mins). There is good fishing in the area near the Knik river (5 min), and the MatSu Valley boasts excellent fishing for all types of Alaska fish, Pike, Various trout, and all 5 species of Pacific Salmon. You can also easily drive south to Kenai and Seward to spend a day on the kenai or Russian rivers, catch a salt water charter etc. There are local ATV adventures, rafting, kayaking, Alaska Race Way Park, zip-lining, and so many more opportunities for fun (check our guidebook for more details).
