Blaydon Burn is over a mile long with over 247 acres of woodland, grassland and wildlife. Nearby the Derwent Walk Country Park is an amazing large park. The country park runs from Swalwell to Rowlands Gill through the River Derwent Valley and is made up of several countryside sites joined together including The Derwent Walk and Derwenthaugh Park. The Coast-to-Coast Cycle Path, National Cycle Network No 14 runs through the country park. There are two visitor centres with cafés, two bird hides, public toilets and seven car parks.
